Students Slam Universities For Feeding ‘Junk Food’ While They Isolate

Students have criticised the cost and quality of food provided to them by universities while in isolation.

Students are branding their university accommodation ‘the UK’s most expensive prison’ as they criticise the food supplied to them in isolation.

Undergraduates have branded food parcels as being filled with ‘junk’, forcing them to get their parents to send fresh fruit and vegetables.

One student from Edinburgh University said ‘We don’t know if that is enough food to last for our period of isolation in terms of fresh food and vegetables which are lacking. It’s a lot of just like frozen stuff in there”

‘We don’t know what will be in the next box but because of the [first box] people from my flat have contacted home and asked for them to send things like vegetables.’

One of the main products given to many students is white bread for a breakfast option.

The highly processed flour and additives in white, packaged bread can only render it unhealthful. Consuming too much white bread can contribute to obesity, heart disease, and diabetes.

It’s safe to say, if they didn’t go into isolation with diabetes, the likelihood is they will come out with it, unless the universities improve the quality of their food supplies.
